Hugh Green Group St Patrick’s Parade and Irish Music and Dance Festival
UPDATE: 10AM Sunday, March 12.
Unfortunately due to the bad weather conditions we have had to cancel today’s St Patrick’s Festival Parade and Irish Music and Dance Festival in Ponsonby.
The health and safety of our parade volunteers and performers is our primary concern.
We waited for the latest weather information and while the bad weather may clear later it does not give us enough time to safely set up the parade and Irish Music and Dance Festival.
We are as disappointed as you are but unfortunately we cannot control the weather! There is no alternative date for this year’s parade.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard throughout the year to prepare for this event.
The highlight of the St Patrick’s Festival programme, the Hugh Green Group St Patrick’s Parade returns to Ponsonby Road on Sunday, March 12.
Come along and see a huge variety of Irish costumes, floats, bands, faerie folk, Leprechauns, Clydesdale horses and even St Patrick himself.
The parade begins at midday at the corner of Ponsonby Terrance and Ponsonby Rd and heads towards Western Park.
Following the parade, head along to the Irish Music and Dance Festival at Western Park. Enjoy a full programme of Irish music acts curated by Sean Kelly. There will also be traditional Irish dancing, food stalls and children’s activities. The Irish Music and Dance Festival runs from 11am until 5pm.
This year we are looking for some enthusiastic people to carry Ireland’s county banners during the parade. If you have an act or a costume you would like us to consider or just want to help out and be a part of the festival we are also interested in hearing from you. Email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how you’d like to get involved.
